I remember the frustration of not being able to get my fingers to change between one chord and another. Persistence got me there and, some 5 years later, I did my first paid gig with my dad. I was shy and reticent but, gradually, I began to feel the buzz of facing the room and the excitement of watching the vibe change as we performed. Music was giving me a voice and formed an integral part of who I am today. Being centre stage and seeing people light up, whilst you’re there, giving it your all, is addictive. Nothing beats the instantaneous feedback of people being moved by what you do, guards coming down and inhibitions being lost as the music takes people to a freer space and the atmosphere changes. Roll forwards to my 27th year: I’d spent 3 years in Italy, 2 years in Germany, I had a business degree and was working in an office, not entirely unhappy but certainly not fulfilled. I decided that, if ever I was going to chase a dream, it was then. Music had always been my true passion and purpose and I was going to be a rock star!
