My first memory of having a guitar in my hand was in my childhood living room, aged 8.

I remember the frustration of not being able to get my fingers to change between one chord and another. Persistence got me there and, some 5 years later, I did my first paid gig with my dad.

I was shy and reticent but, gradually, I began to feel the buzz of facing the room and the excitement of watching the vibe change as we performed. Music was giving me a voice and formed an integral part of who I am today.

Being centre stage and seeing people light up, whilst you’re there, giving it your all, is addictive. Nothing beats the instantaneous feedback of people being moved by what you do, guards coming down and inhibitions being lost as the music takes people to a freer space and the atmosphere changes.

Roll forwards to my 27th year: I’d spent 3 years in Italy, 2 years in Germany, I had a business degree and was working in an office, not entirely unhappy but certainly not fulfilled. I decided that, if ever I was going to chase a dream, it was then. Music had always been my true passion and purpose and I was going to be a rock star!

I have performed on the street and love the raw emotion you elicit from those strangers, going about their normal business and responding from the heart. I have had the privilege of being part of scores of weddings, playing brides down the aisle, sharing in their celebration and contributing to making their special day even more memorable and unique. I have performed at hundreds of gigs, festivals and events. Every occasion is different. Every occasion is exciting, challenging and rewarding.

Being a professional musician has introduced me to some truly fantastic people from all walks of life. It’s given me reason to travel to some amazing places and has afforded me some wonderful experiences. From a magical wedding in Umbria, dressed in a linen suit, playing in an olive grove as a huge moon came up and shone over the intimate celebration on a stunning mountainside, to meeting some all-time musical heroes of mine, my profession really has been a true friend and unlocked doors for me that I would never have dreamed possible as that timid 8 year-old with his first guitar.

With the music also comes the practical requirements and I pride myself on reliability and on doing everything I can to deliver what I promise. I work to understand the needs of the job, the things that matter to my clients and seek to build relationships, so when on stage, I can ensure everyone is happy, expectations are met and there are no surprises.

Whether I perform solo, (with my voice, guitar, a couple of fancy foot pedals and my cherished trumpet), or leading my band, The Chapmen, I love what I do and I would love to work with you ….
